...just to have my daughter sleep through the night. My son was such a good sleeper when he was a baby. Like clockwork she will take a nap around 7pm. Wake up at 10 and be all like... “It’s PARTY TIME!” until midnight. And then wake up again at 3 am.

That sounds like my daughter when she is sick. Seeing 2 am gets very tiring very quickly. I wish you luck.

I know what you’re going through! My daughter didn’t sleep for more than three or four hours at a time for the first two years of her life. I’m convinced it shaved 2 years off of my lifespan. It was brutal.

Steal the wheels off her Accord Sport. Party at 10, ehh? Let’s see her make it to the party with a wheel-less car.

That was my daughter until about 3. Heck, I’d force her to not take a nap, and she’d still follow the same bizarre schedule no matter what.
Lately, she just doesn’t take naps. Fights sleep until about 11-12. Soccer starts in a few weeks, so I think we’ll soon see the end of that.

my daughter started to do real nights at 9 months, now she is 2 years old.
My son, who is now 4 months old, let’s just say I sleep from 2-5 hours per night. Last night I got about 2 hours.

my kids habits would shift all the time. we went through a phase when they were napping late and going to bed late. we cut the nap out for a day or two and they would get tired earlier and take a nap around 2 or 3 instead so they could get to bed around 8

Sounds like we have similar offspring. We had three really good nights (out of nowhere) but most the time it was him being a night owl....

I wish I could offer more than empathy. My boy was about the same until he hit 10 months, then he had a month of sleeping, then a month of not...
Now he’s back to sleeping.

We eventually resorted to bringing our little bacon bit into bed with us. Now we can’t figure out how to get her to sleep in her own crib, as the only way she will fall asleep is by pulling Mrs. BaconSandwich’s hair. I feel your pain. I think the trick is to remember: This too, shall pass.

lol! The one thing I tell about-to-be parents is, “how well you can function in a sleepy haze will be key.” My wife HAS to have her sleep or she actually loses her mind. She broke down when our first was only six weeks old. We laugh about it now with two high schoolers but at the time it was rough.

Neither of mine slept through the night until they were 24 months. Hang in there.

Sounds like it’s normal, my daughter’s inconsistent as well, only a month older than yours. Try not letting her take that 7pm nap. Those times are almost exactly what my daughter has done, if she goes down for a nap after 7, she’ll be up until midnight. We don’t put her down for a nap after 6:30 anymore and just let he be cranky for that hour or so. Sleeping through the night is hit or miss, but at least she goes down before I’m ready for bed myself. Since it’s been nice out though, I’ve found that when she runs around outside for a while she’ll apparently burn off enough energy to sleep through the night.

Oh man...it’s a battle to get my 3 year old son down for a nap.

Youth sports aren’t just for the kids some times. Sometimes, they’re to wear the kids out so that they follow a normal sleep pattern.

Totally...but at 3 he is not quite ready for that. Last year we signed him up for a tumbling class. Essentially a 45 min session of jumping and rolling around. He wasn’t a fan of waiting and following directions, every class was a battle. Maybe we will try again in the summer.

I remember reading this book after enough 12 AM car rides, neighborhood walks, etc to get my son to go to sleep. My daughter was a good sleeper.
The book didn’t help at all, but I at least chuckled.

My sister’s son is 3, he still doesn’t sleep through the night.
